How to pay for a $1.8 million bridge construction contract in Cuyahoga County
Cuyahsoga County, Ohio, has hired a contractor to build a $8 million pedestrian bridge across the Erie Canal that will run alongside the U.S.-bound U.N. ship Manhattan in the Cuyaha River.
The bridge, called Knightbridge, is expected to open in the fall of 2020.
It’s expected to be the first bridge of its kind in the U, and it’s a huge leap forward for the city, which is in the midst of a revitalization project that has included the redevelopment of the historic St. Paul’s Cathedral.
A groundbreaking ceremony will be held on Friday at the Erie Basin Convention Center to celebrate the completion of the bridge.
The Cuyahahapac Community Foundation, which funds the project, will use a $15 million grant from the U:C.C.F.C., the city of Cleveland and the U;C.E. to complete the project.
The construction of the pedestrian bridge is expected not to take more than six months.
