Federal government says it will spend $1.1 billion to build two new bridges in Arizona
Federal officials say they will spend at least $1 billion on two new crossings at a time as construction of the Arizona Centennial Bridge continues.
The bridge construction will begin in 2018, said the Department of Transportation.
The Centennial will cross over the Pima County Line in Arizona.
The county line will connect to Interstate 10, the only interstate in the state.
Construction will begin next year and be completed in 2022.
The cost of the bridge is about $500 million.
