Verrazano Bridge construction ‘highly unlikely’ to start this year, says Italian official
The Verrazanano Bridge, one of the most iconic structures in Italy, is being built in the northern town of Udine, where construction is expected to start in 2018.
The work is expected by the end of 2019.
Construction is scheduled to begin in 2019 and end in 2021.
The bridge will carry a total of 4,000 vehicles and has a height of over 7.5 metres.
The bridge will be the largest bridge in the world.
The longest is the Eiffel Tower, which spans the Seine River in Paris.
The project has drawn criticism from some of Italy’s political and business leaders.
They argue that it will hurt tourism and will increase traffic congestion.
