What you need to know about the construction of the Portage Bridge project
Construction of the new Portage Crossing Bridge is underway at the Port of Vancouver.
The Portage bridge is expected to open later this year.
The project will be completed in the next six months.
In August, the Port Authority of Canada awarded $1.3 billion for the project, which is a $1 billion dollar project that includes a bridge over the Fraser River.
Construction began in the late 1960s and was delayed when the Fraser washes away in winter.
The bridge will connect the Portages north to Vancouver.
Construction of a new bridge is a major undertaking, and it’s expected to take years.
The new bridge will provide a connection between the Portageds west coast and the Fraser Valley.
There are many more factors that need to be considered before construction begins.
It’s estimated that the bridge will be open by the end of 2020.
The construction of this bridge will not only improve connectivity between Portages east and west coast, but also reduce congestion.
Construction will include a variety of materials including steel, concrete, steel sheets, and glass.
The $1bn contract to construct the Porta-Lopez project was awarded in October 2017 by the Federal government.
The cost is $1,079.4 million.
The province of British Columbia is funding the construction.
Construction is expected start in 2019 and the bridge is set to open in 2021.
