India to build 3 bridge construction sites in Mumbai and New Delhi, with completion expected in 2017
By Amitabh Kumar The Associated PressIndia will build three bridge construction projects in Mumbai, New Delhi and the city of Gandhinagar by 2019, according to a joint statement released Friday by the governments of the northern states of Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra and Assam.
The construction will start soon after the completion of the construction works at the Baku Bridge in Azerbaijan, the statement said.
The project will include construction of a bridge on the Nagpur-Baku Bridge, the second of two such projects in India, it said.
In the past two years, construction works have started on the Gandhinaga Bridge, which will connect the easternmost city of Mumbai to the city-state capital.
It will be the second major bridge project in India.
