How to fix a bridge that is falling apart
The bridge that spans the Arkansas River in St. Louis is about to fall apart.
In a letter to the Missouri Department of Transportation (MDOT), the contractor that will build the bridge said the bridge’s main suspension span was damaged and will need to be replaced.
Mortgage servicer John R. O’Brien Construction told the Mondeo Times that it was working with the company to find a new bridge for the bridge, which is about 12 miles north of Springfield.
The bridge is part of a massive project that includes a new roadway over the Missouri River and a new toll bridge over the Mississippi River.
A state engineer said the structure is structurally sound.
The new toll structure is expected to open by the end of June.
