When will the bridge be built?

Posted June 04, 2018 08:59:09 A report on the construction of a bridge linking Sydney and Brisbane in Australia has predicted the bridge will be completed by 2027.

The report, published by the Bureau of Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Development (BITT) said the project was a joint venture between Sydney and Queensland, and was a significant step forward in Australia’s long-term economic development.

It also predicted the project would be one of the first bridges to be completed on Australian soil and would attract more than 10 million visitors a year.

Key points:The project is a joint project between Sydney-Queensland’s NSW and Queensland’s Queensland Infrastructure.

The report estimated the bridge would be completed in 2027It also projected the bridge’s economic impact would be $US6 billion by the time it was finishedIn September, the BITT said the $US3 billion bridge was already completed in Sydney, and the next step would be to start construction.

“We believe the project is an economic success story, with the project providing the major benefit to both Australian businesses and the wider economy, and we look forward to continuing the success of the project as we approach the 2020s,” it said.

“The bridge is a prime example of how Australian infrastructure works, delivering benefits to both Sydney and its surrounding regions.”

The bridge was designed by Australian architect and engineer David Sheldrake, who has also designed Sydney’s Central Station.

It was completed in 2002, with construction expected to begin in 2018.

“The completion of the bridge provides a significant boost to the Sydney CBD, its residents and visitors, as it enables more people to access the city centre,” BITT regional manager David Biddulph said.

“A major milestone in the development of the area is the construction and operation of the Sydney-Brisbane Metro rail link, which will also open the way for new businesses to open up in the CBD.”

Biddulprph said the report highlighted the importance of the state’s infrastructure and how it could help boost the local economy.

“This project demonstrates that the NSW Government is leading the way in the nation, and this project is no exception,” he said.
