How to get a nice bridge construction job
A construction project that has been postponed for years has finally begun.
The $100 million bridge replacement project will be completed this summer.
The Washington state Department of Transportation said the work is expected to be complete by late 2019.
Construction on the $100-million replacement of the Washington County Bridge will be the first of several bridge projects under the bridge rehabilitation project.
In a statement, state transportation spokeswoman Jenifer Ketcham said the bridge replacement is expected “to provide a safer and more pleasant environment for all drivers, pedestrians and bicyclists.”
Ketchamp said the project will include the replacement of concrete piers that connect the Washington county bridge with the Interstate 405 Bridge in downtown Seattle.
Construction of the project is expected in phases, with the bridge to be finished in late 2021 or early 2022.
Construction will begin on the bridge in the fall of 2019.
The bridge project will also be the last bridge replacement before the state’s $2.5 billion new Interstate 5 bridge, which is scheduled to open in 2021.
The new bridge is expected for completion by 2019.
