What’s happening with the Wynyard Bridge construction project?
Updated May 23, 2018 09:37:47 The Wynyard Waterfront Development Authority and its partner in the Wynyards Waterfront project, Waterfront Property Development Corp., are scheduled to begin construction on a $1.6 billion project to replace the iconic Bruce Lee Bridge with a new bridge over the Florida Straits.
Construction on the bridge project is expected to be completed by early 2019, but the exact date is not yet set.
Construction will span more than 5,000 feet from the old Bruce Lee Boulevard Bridge to the Florida State Capitol.
The project will replace the bridge with a 3.4-mile long span that will be built to a height of 1,800 feet.
The $1 billion bridge project will also include a $300 million pedestrian plaza and a new park.
It will include a waterway bridge, pedestrian bridge and parking structure.
The project is the third of three major projects the city is planning to complete this year.
The first two projects were for a new convention center and the South Florida Convention Center.
The second is for a massive new hotel and condominium complex.
